The genus Ledebouria is a group of bulbous plants with variously spotted, textured and coloured leaves ranging from minute novelties to large leafy plants well suited to the garden. Plants in this genus typically produce rosettes of leaves which may vary in number from one to several leaves, usually densely to sparsely spotted or plain.

Tear drop bulbs grow above ground. Specimen will form a clump of bulbs, each bulb with a bloom a top.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 6-8” tall/ form clumps.

PLANT TYPE: Evergreen /bulb

GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: medium/soft but dense
LIGHT: 3-4 hrs. of direct sun to part shade.

WATER: medium, keep moist, not wet.
Winter rest period, water only to prevent medium to dry out completely.

SOIL: well drained soil.
As observed in Coastal NC.
BLOOMS: Racemes of bell-shaped flowers. They are showy, greenish purple-pink with a small pink stripe running down each petal, can be up to 20+ flowers on each spike. Spring & Summer.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A

KEY FEATURES: Teardrop-shaped, green to purple bulb, clothed in peeling, papery tunics that prevent water loss, 2-4 cm centimetres in diameter that necks above soil, it will soon cluster. The foliage is the beauty of this plant.
