Vandas are native to Southeast Asia. Most varieties prefer bright light and warmth as well as a reasonable degree of humidity. These plants are known for their large flower size and vibrant colors.

Vandas grow on treetops on ridges along rivers and prefer bright light.



HEIGHT X SPREAD: ? PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen GROWTH RATE: Moderate TEXTURE: bold LIGHT: high light, indirect. WATER: keep fairly moist, high humidity SOIL: open baskets. May use some loos bark to mantain humidity in summer months.
As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS: Blue with pale cream mottle spots. New flower has pale blue color., but as flower age the color gets darker. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A KEY FEATURES: Keep roots moist and fertilize frequently during growing season.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Plant arrived from Hawaii in 3” plastic basket with some orchiata mix. Jan. 2016: (1) 4” woodbasket. Water daily unless cloudy/rainy Feb. 2017: (1) WB 4” Jan. 2019: Plant perished. DEAD
