The leaves are elongated and lanceolate. The flowers are numerous,  and last long, between 20 to 30 days. It has fleshy large pseudobulbs.

Huge variety of cultivars of different colors.

LIGHT: medium filtered (50%)

WATER: let dry between water, well drained. 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in medium bark
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:   pale violet with lighter markings and yellow center. Eight alternating blooms on a single 2 feet tall spike.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

KEY FEATURES: Double leaves at the top of pseudobulbs. Spike emerges from top of bulb between leaves.
Repot when new pseudobulb roots grow out of medium.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Mature plant in bloom with one spike open and one forming. 4” plastic pot with medium bark. Recommended water about twice per week in indoor home conditions.
Jan. 2015: plant remains in original 4” plastic container with bark. It has new shoots and look good.
Sept. 2015: Lack of water and high temperatures, plant made blooms but they also shriveled dry. Potted in bark that was probably not absorbing moisture well.
Jan. 2016: Dead.
