Orchid-Colmanara Jungle Monarch 'Everglades'

Colmanara are part of a large group of Oncidiinae intergeneric, more than one genus involved created back in early 1800s.

Colmanara are a cross breed of Miltonia, Odontoglossum and Oncidium. Usually the flowers are some mix of red or yellow with white or brown markings. They bloom for about a month or two with 5 to 20 flowers.

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, only.

WATER: moist but well  drained, 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Wood Basket with Orchid bark mix.
 I used Orchiata/Sponge rock 4:1 ratio
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: Brown markings with a white/red lip and yellow markings at the edges of petals.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: vigorous grower with large up right long leaves. Long pseudobulbs.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Two large plants received bare root.
-Potted both “cuttings” in 8” wooden basket with Medium Orchiata mix.-January 2014:(1) 8” wooden basket.
-Jan. 2016: plants not found. Dead.
