Orchid-Paphiopedilum Magical Venus

Genus comprises about 60 species in the Asia tropics from southern India to New Guinea and the Philippines. They are known as “Lady’s slippers” because of their pouch like lips.  All Paphiopedilum have flowers of a similar plan. Lacking pseudobulbs, they prefer a moisture-retaining epiphytic compost and medium light levels.

Re-pot once per year.

BLOOMS:Deep Burgundy Lateral sepals are fused into a “synsepal” that is usually small and more or less hidden behind the pouchlike lip. Dorsal sepal large and showy. Petals may be round or linear, curved or undulate. Mid winter to early spring.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

Plant received in 4” inch square pot.
Keep in shade and moist at all times. Use weak strength fertilizer, less than other orchid varieties.
