Orchid-Paphiopedilum Spring Moonbeam

Genus comprises about 60 species in the Asia tropics from southern India to New Guinea and the Philippines. They are known as “Lady’s slippers” because of their pouch like lips.  All Paphiopedilum have flowers of a similar plan. Lacking pseudobulbs, they prefer a moisture-retaining epiphytic compost and medium light levels.

Plant purchased in 4” inch square pot with Orchiata mix medium.
-Jan. 2016: growing.
-First bloom Jan. 8, 2017
Sept. 2018: Blooming. Very similar to #1012 (Spring Wolf )& #1016 (Chiara)
Feb. 2019: Blooming however, this time the bloom has a defect. The pouch has grown facing backwards. The bloom look strange before it open, short stem and sort of twisted. It is still pretty.
