Orchid - Cirrhopetalum Elizabeth Ann “Buckleberry”

This genus is very closely related to Bulbophyllum. This one, a hybrid between Cirrhopetalum longissimum and Cirrhopetalum rothschildianum was given the highest award, an FCC, by the American Orchid Society. An amazing flower! Blooms well in greenhouses. Inflorescence are pendulous.

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen

GROWTH RATE: Very vigorous grower!

TEXTURE: bold to medium
LIGHT: filtered light. Medium

WATER: moist but well  drained, 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in Orchid bark mix
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: Pendulous eight to ten 9" umbellate flowers per inflorescence. Flowers are cream with lavender markings. Not fragrant. Fall season bloomer? or Feb.-March ?(conflicting info, need to see myself)

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

Plant received in 3.5” pot with Orchid bark mix. 
Place in 6” wooden basket with orchid bark. (July 26, 2012)
Jan. 8, 2014: 6”  wooden basket.
Jan. 2015: (1) 6” wood basket, slowly improving. Water same as vandas seem to work.
Jan. 2016: Try tree fern mount, no roots growing. Moved to a pot with orchiata, spongerock and phal. mix top with moss in 5” plastic pot on saucer with water.
