The genus is characterized by the presence of cylindrical pseudobulbs of several nodes with apical, thick leaves, a racemose inflorescence with a sheath at the base; the usually large and showy flowers; and the four hard, clavate pollinia.

The species is native to Venezuela.

BLOOMS: septals and petals are rose pink with white. Midlobe is round with two blotches of yellow-white and lines of deep purple radiating outward between them.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: The pseudobulbs are cylindrical, smooth with a single, narrow, stiffly erect, grey-green apical leaf.

Received as 26 seedlings in 2” pots packed with bark.
 -April, 2012 potted in 4” clay pots with small & medium bark. Hang with hook on trellis.
Fertilize once per week.
Mounted about 42 plants on 1/4 inch cedar plank with 4 cut-out shapes. Small amount of sphagnum moss behind each plant. Plants distributed in both sides. Moist plank often until plants attach. 8 tiny plants re-potted in 2.5” plastic compot with moss, they had almost no roots.
Oct. 18, 2012 Mounted small plants from compot in Trellis C.
Nov. 27, 2012:mounted (1) on Tree fern board #1-B
May 29, 2013 demounted all plants and placed in pots.
Jan. 2014: (17) 4” clay pots. Much improved since placed in pots. 
Plus (8 seedlings) in 2” pots
Jan. 2015:(11) 4” clay pots + (6) 2” aircone + 4 tiny seedlings.
Jan. 2016: (4) 4” clay pots + (2) 2” clay + (1)4” wood basket. Total of (7) plants.
Feb. 2017: (1)clay 4”/O, (1)clay 2”. Total of (2) plants.
Nov. 2017: (#671-1) tree mount,(#671-2) cork tower/ sect. 4
Jan. 2019: (#671-2) 2 tiny plants removed from cork tower and into a small cork slab. Plants in (2) locations: Tree/wood & TF slab.
