Nymphaea

Water Lily

  ID#624

Water lilies maintain the well-being of the ponds they inhabit. They provide shade to keep the water temperature down during the hot summer months. By blocking out a lot of sunlight, the lilies help to keep the algae growth down. Their shade also gives shelter to any fish that may be in the pond.

Plant sits in a small water container with 2 gold fish inside the glasshouse where this plant will live year round.

A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch
Hint: When establishing new plants, don't remove old leaves for two months. The leaves drain their nutrients back to the root to help make new roots.

Plant is growing well, fish like to eat the edge of the leaves. Fish may need more food to make the plant survive.

-Plant perish during hurricane flood august 2011. Because floods are expected here I will not replace the fish tub.
