Additional Information: Purchase on-line from :TopTropicals.com , nursery located in Punta Gorda, Florida.

Avocado “Brogdon” has a Type B flower. While avocado trees have both male and female organs in one flower, the opening cycle varies.

Type A will open the female part in the morning for 2-3 hrs.and the male pollen in the afternoon of the next day. (Ref: UofCavo)

Type B will do the opposite.

Fertilization of avocados is more likely if two trees Type A & B of similar season are in proximity.

I chose “Brogdon” to Pollinate my “Day”. Purchased at the same time.

A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Having grown up in Mexico, I love to eat avocados and I’m determined to grow some although or climate is not suited for it. Now that I have a Glasshouse I will try what people refer to as “Condo” size trees. Brogdon is not such type but the size can be control by keeping in in a large pot and some pruning. The tree tendency is tall and slender so I been told. So far so good.
