This fern thrives best in humid conditions, if grown as a house plant it becomes necessary to mist the plant when relative humidity falls below around 80%.


Outdoors this plant prefers partial shade or full shade. I plan to keep it in the glasshouse with possible exception during summer months when sun/heat may be excessive indoors.

PLANT TYPE: Perennial evergreen - tropical

GROWTH RATE: fast, root-bound in one season when grown in pot
TEXTURE: fine

LIGHT: part shade, full shade, filtered light

WATER: moist

SOIL: high Organic
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: N/A

FRUIT  AND  SEED: propagate by division of rooted runners. This plant will not produce true spores.

KEY FEATURES: usually a house plant or hanging basket. Outdoors plant will die back at  first frost. Remains green above 40 F.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

    Two large pots, one to be return to Happy Williams after winter. The second one is large, and has ferns coming thru from a side crack. I like this feature and added several holes all around the side of the pot, then added some rooted runners hoping the pot will display ferns almost hiding the pot.
