My  friend Paula Beattie and I have been exchanging plants.  She pick this one on a spring trip to a daylily farm near Wilminton, NC


    Label as a mistery hybrid not yet named and with unknown characteristics I chose it’s name.


    Bright, clear and radiant as the person that deliver it to me. A great adition to my collection.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 3 ft x 2 ft

PLANT TYPE: deciduous, dormant in winter.

GROWTH RATE: Moderate

TEXTURE: medium - coarse

LIGHT: Full sun to part shade

WATER: moist, to dry. Tolerates drought

SOIL: tolerates many types
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: 28” tall and about 6” blooms, re-bloomer. Vevelt Red with a yellow/green throat, this is definitely a eye catcher.
FRUIT  AND  SEED: seeds do not produce the same variety. Propagate by division of roots.
Sometimes a plants grows from hill of flower stem, see photo below.
KEY FEATURES: gorgeous color in bloom, almost velvet like. Foliage is dark and gracefully drops down without reaching the ground. Good shape plant.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

    This plant has been blooming since the first spring planted. Located in a relatively dry and sunny spot it seems to like it’s location. At the second yr. (spring 2009) I took divisions and place one at the Collection bed and another in the West Yard Bed #3. Both are doing well.
