The calla lilies are a beautiful genus of flowers that have been enjoyed by humans for centuries. It grows from a type of bulb called a rhizome and produces very large green leaves, typically covered with light colored spots.

Native from Africa calla is not a lily and not a calla either but a genus on its own.

Cameo is a tall variety with flowers changing color as they mature.

WATER: medium to dry

SOIL: rich and well drain. Can stay outdoor in ground in NC
As observed in Eastern NC.

BLOOMS: Color changes with flower maturity. Starts a creamy white, then salmon pink, green and finishes with a brown/ marron tone. June

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: leaves are green spotted with white. Large tall plant.  Repeat bloomer.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Stonehenge

 *Transplanted rhizomes from Mooring Hitch Gardens fall 2013. Some rhizomes left behind so that flowers will be at both gardens.
June 2014 first flower appears and deer do not seem to have any interest on it.
