Pecan Pie

1 single 9" pie crust, unbaked, Crisco recipe
CLASSIC FILLING:
3 whole eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup KARO light or dark corn syrup, see note (1)
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups pecans
Classic:
Preheat oven to 350 F degrees, 375 F degrees for Rich pecan pie variation.
1. In large bowl combine ingredients EXCEPT pecans. You may use mixer.
2. Stir in pecans.
3. Pour into pie crust.
4. Bake in 350 F degrees oven 50 to 55 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between center and edge comes out clean. Or touch center of pie gently, when center no longer feels liquid, pie is ready. Cool.
Rich Pecan Pie variation:
1. Replace: corn syrup, sugar and butter for the following:
1 1/2 cups LOG CABIN Syrup (maple flavor pancake syrup)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine or butter
2. Combine in saucepan. Bring to boil; boil gently for 5 minutes, uncovered, stirring occasionally. Cool slightly. Proceed as above recipe.
3. Bake at 375 F degrees for 35-40 minutes.
NOTE: 1) I prefer light corn syrup.
