1/3  cup  almond slivers or hazelnuts

1/2  cup  sugar

1/4  cup  water

1. Place nuts on a baking sheet and toast at 350 F degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Stir occasionally to color evenly. If using hazelnuts, chop finely.

 

2. Lightly oil another baking sheet. In a medium saucepan, heat sugar and water over low heat until sugar dissolves, shaking pan occasionally. Increase heat and cook until golden and sugary.

 

3. Stir in nuts. Cook 2-3 minutes, stirring well.

 

4. Pour onto prepared sheet; cool. When brittle, finely crush with a meat mallet or process in a blender., but be careful not to ground to fine, it should be somehow chunky.
