Tips: Almost as rich as solid chocolate.

16 ounces semi sweet baking chocolate squares, see note (1)
3/4 cup firmly package brown sugar
1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick), softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups chopped nuts (optional)
Heat oven to 350 F degrees.
1. Coarsely chop 8 oz ( 8 squares) of the chocolate; ste aside.
2. Microwave remaining 8 ounces (8 squares) chocolate in large microwavable bowl on HIGH 1 to 2 minutes. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remember that chocolate appear not melted when in microwave because it does not change shape until stirred.
3. Stir in sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla with wooden spoon until well blended. Stir in flour and baking powder.
4. Stir in reserved chopped chocolate and nuts.
5. Drop by scant 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each dough ball some with the back of a knife or spatula to a even thickness.
6. Bake 12 to 13 minutes in preheated oven at 350 F degrees or until cookies are puffed and feel set to the touch. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
NOTES : 1) Two packages of Baker's Baking chocolate, 8 (1 ounce) squares per package.
