Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup powdered sugar
2 whole eggs
1 cup sliced almonds
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
10 ounces maraschino cherries (1 jar), drained, chop, reserve juice
Pink Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 to 3 tsp reserved maraschino cherry juice
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Heat oven to 350 F degrees.
1. Mix 1 cup flour, the butter and powdered sugar. Press in ungreased square pan 9x9x2 inches. Bake 10 minutes or until set.
2. Beat eggs in medium bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except Pink Glaze. Spread over baked layer.
3. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely.
4. Prepare Pink Glaze by mixing all glaze ingredients until smooth and of desired consistency.
5. Drizzle glaze on bars. Cut bars to desired size and shape. Triangles look good.
NOTES : Make about 16 bars.
