2 cups flour
2/3 cup baking cocoa
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 3/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 1/2 sticks)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 whole eggs
1 cup water
1. Grease and flour two 9" round pans or one 13"x9" pan. Preheat oven to 350 F degrees.
2.Combine flour, baking cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
3. In mixer bowl, beat butter and sugar. Add vanilla extract. Add eggs one at a time.
4. Alternating between flour mixture and water, add to butter mixture. Incorporate well.
5. Bake at 350 F degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes and invert and cool completely before frosting.
Chocolate Lover's Frosting:
1. Mix 1 cup powdered sugar, cocoa, butter plus 2 tablespoons milk . Add vanilla extract.
2. Add remaining powdered sugar and milk mixing until smooth.
NOTES : Makes one 9" round two layer cake or one 13"x9" rectangular cake. Frosting makes 2 cups.

2/3 cup baking cocoa
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened (1 stick)
5 to 6 Tbs. milk. divided
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
