Onion Cheese Breadsticks

2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/3 cup warm water (105 to 115 degrees)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon dried parsley flakes
1 tablespoon shortening
1 teaspoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 egg
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1. Grease baking pan, 13x9x2-inches.
2. Dissolve yeast in warm water in small mixer bowl. Add flour, parsley flakes, shortening, sugar, salt, garlic powder and egg. Beat on medium speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl constantly. Beat on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally.
3. Stir in onion and cheese.
4. Pat dough evenly in pan with floured hands. Let rise in warm place until almost double, about 20 minutes.
5. Heat oven to 450F degrees.
6. Leaving dough in the pan, cut into 3x1-inch sticks; brush with butter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds; bake until edges are brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
NOTES : A good substitute for bread in a short time.
