BLOOMS: White citrus type bloom in spring, fragrant.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: 2” diameter oranges that persist into winter. Edible but acidic/lemony. Best use for marmalade with skin and pulp.

KEY FEATURES: Contorted and thorny. Stems stay green during winter when the foliage is gone. Provides a sculptural shrub off season.

    Specimen is about 4 ft. tall.

This hardy orange cultivar  is a deciduous, rounded, densely-branched, ornamental shrub which typically grows 3-6' tall and features zigzag to corkscrew stems, curved thorns 1" long, slightly fragrant. White spring flowers, 2" diameter and yellow-orange autumn 2” diameter fruit. Fruits are acidic with many seeds but edible. Best left on tree for winter interest in fall. This cultivar is synonymous with and sometimes sold as P. t. 'Monstrosa'.
