HEIGHT X SPREAD: Large PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen GROWTH RATE: Moderate TEXTURE: bold LIGHT: high light, indirect. WATER: allow to dry between water high humidity SOIL: wood baskets or clay pots with orchiata mix.
As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS: White with purple lip and color at the tips of petals. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A KEY FEATURES: fertilize during gorwing season. Single tall narrow leaf per pseudobulb/stem.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Plant arrived from Hawaii in 2.5” plastic pot with small orchiata mix. 1.5 to 2 yrs. from blooming size. Kept as received. Winter 2015 transfered to small clay por with Orchiata. Jan.9, 2016: mature plant arrive bareroot, placed in 4” reg. clay with orchiata. Jan. 2016:(2) 4” regular clay pot. Total of (2) plants. Two blooms open March 15, 2016 from mature plant (Jan. 2016) May 2016: New plant re-potted in 6” wood basket. Total of 3 containers: (2) 4” clay pots and (1) 6”wood basket Feb. 2017:(1)WB 6”, (1) clay 4”/O, (1) clay 4”R Oct. 2019: (#4) mounted on CBT/branch #2, middle section. Dec. 2019: (#1)4.5” clay pot, (#2) 5” clay pot, (#3) 6” Wbasket. Jan.2020:(#5) New plant 2.5” plastic pot. Mounted in CBT/branch #1 Sept. 2022: (#6) new plant mounted @ WT, above #1341 April 2023: (#2) discarded due to Boisduval scale.
