In general Hard cane den. are tall strong canes with few large blooms, this one however has at maturity hundreds of blooms on long canes that may hang down.

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, medium. Most light tolerant of the species

WATER: moist, well drained. 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in Orchiata mix with a slight angle for drainage of the crown.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:   3 inch reddish lavender flowers with darker crimson lip. Hundreds of flowers in mature plants.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

KEY FEATURES: called the best lavender dendrobium.

Plant arrived from Hawaii in a 2.5” plastic pot in Orchiata mix. Two years away from blooming size.
Sept. 9, 2015 :(1) new mature plants in 4” pot. A total of (2) plants
Jan. 2016: (1)3” clay pot, (1)4” plastic pot (hanging inside woodbasket).
Total of (2) plants.
Feb. 2017: (1) WB 6” (#986-2) , (1) clay 3”R
July 2017: (#986-2) WB 6”, and (#986-1) Cork Tower mounted top section. (removed from clay 3” R). Total of 2 plants
Feb. 1, 2018: (1)#986-3 new plant in 4” Pk pot with bark.
Spring 2020:#986-3  removed from pot and mounted on GT
