Phalaenopsis are easy to care plants as long as you keep water from standing on the leaves crown.


Purchased after blooming time at a discount table.

Color tone and pattern may differ slightly due to the variation in produced hybrids.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: medium PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen GROWTH RATE: Moderate TEXTURE: bold LIGHT: filtered light, medium. Most light tolerant of the species WATER: moist, well drained. high humidity 60-70 % SOIL: Pot in Orchiata mix with a slight angle for drainage of the crown.
As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS: Bloody Orange, very dark with tiny golden marksings. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES: flowers remain for 2-3 months and repeat frequently.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Purchased in 6” plastic with S. moss. Re-potted in a 4” Aircone with Medium Orchiata mix. Jan. 2016: (1) 4” aircone pot. Doing well with spike. -Blooming March 26, 2016 -Feb. 2017: (#977-1)AC 4” -March 29, 2018: (#977-2) AC 4”, previously label as Orphan #1 i.e. unknown variety until now that has bloomed. -July 2018: (#977-1) RP up into 5” AC with new orchiata. Total of 2 containers. Oct. 2018: placed both plants into one container. Ceramic/ square/ cream-white/ 5.5” sides with orchiata med. and few large pieces of cork at bottom for air spaces. Total of 1 container with (2) plants. -Feb. 2019: Both plants in bloom, #977-1 has a yellow mottled background with dark red on top and faint white margines. #977-2 has a white mottled background with dark red on top and pronounce white edges. Less sheen and darkness than #1.
