A large clumping tropical orchid, this species is from the hot, very humid forests of southeastern Asia from Myanmar (Burma) to Vietnam. It is an epiphyte (growing upon another plant) that experiences lots of humidity and rain in summer but a markedly drier winter.

BLOOMS:  A winter bloomer. Spicy Fragrance.
Large grouping of red flowers pendulant as a fox tail.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A

KEY FEATURES: A large plant at maturity.
Water and dilutely fertilize when actively growing from spring to fall, reduce watering and stop fertilizing in winter. Humidity should always be high.

Plant arrived from Hawaii in 2.5” clay pot with moss. 1.5 to 2 yrs. from blooming size.
Jan. 2016:(1) 2.5” clay pot with moss, hanging inside 4” woodbasket. Doing well, water every day except cloudy or rainy.
Feb. 2017: (1) WB 4”
Dec. 20, 2019: In bloom for first time.
July 2020: Plant DEAD.
