Orchid - Dendrobium Burana Stripe

Burana Stripe is a Dendrobium phalaenopsis type hybrid, also known as a hard cane Den. May tend to get top heavy, a heavy pot recommended.

As a hard-cane dendrobiums is quite floriferous. May bloom on each new growth, or bloom on older canes. Sometimes there are multiple spikes on both new and older canes. The blooms open on spikes successively and last from a couple of weeks to months. 


Color:Pink and white, pronounce veins

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, high

WATER: moist, well drained. 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in Orchiata mix. Do not repot unless medium needs replacement. Do not cut canes unless totaly dry or rotted.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:   Tall spike emerging from top of cane has multiple blooms pink/raspberry & white fuzzy  felt like center. May flower at various times. Proliferous.


FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: alternating leaves on pseudobulbs- hard canes. Spike grows from the top of cane. Compact plant. Stiff leaves.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Plant arrived from Hawaii in a 4” plastic pot in bark. One tall spike with 9 blooms not yet open.
Half of the blooms open by Aug.17, 2014
Jan.2015 potted in 4” Tall clay pot with Orchiata mix. In Bloom.
Sept. 9, 2015: (1) new mature plant in 4” pot. A total of (2) plants.
Jan. 2016:(1)6” woodebasket, (1)4”  tall clay pot. Both doing well. Blooms during summer -fall.
Feb. 2017:(1) WB 6” (#900-2), (1) clay 4”T (#900)
Nov. 2017:(#900-1) & (#900-2) both 6” WB.
