Moth Orchids are the most popular orchids these days because of the long duration of their flowers and the repeat flowering period if the rigth conditions are met.


This one,(2013) a present from my friend Happy Lowry is been passed on to me during it’s resting period.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: small

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen Hybrid
GROWTH RATE: slow
TEXTURE: fine
LIGHT: filtered light, low to medium. Intermediate to warm temperature.

WATER: moist well, drained, do not allow to dry completely.
high humidity 60-70 %
SOIL: best potted in small fir bark
Re-pot once per year.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: Creamy, faint yellow flower with a dark pink/fuschia lip than may have additional patterns of equal color.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

Plant purchased in 6” inch round pot with moss.
-re-potted in a 4” square aircone-pot with orchiata mix.
Keep in shade and moist at all times. Fertilize once per week during growing season.
-January 2014: (1) 5” aircone pot. Healthy roots.
Blooms: May 2014
Jan. 2015: down size to (1) 4” aircone pot, best size for healthy roots.
-Blooms: Feb. 2015
July 2015: re-pot, trimmed roots, same size 4”  aircone
Jan. 2016: (1)3.5” aircone. 2/2107, doing well.
April 2017:(1) ceramic/ sm. round/ green, and (1) 3.5” AC
Sept. 2018: Combined both plants into: (1) ceramic/small/round /cream color.
-Feb. 2024:(#2) mounted last fall on CC/Phals.-Top and now blooming. No record or location of (#1) plant is or if dead.
