Orchid - Oncidioda Hula Halau "Volcano Queen"

This is a very hearty growing conpact Oncidium that loves to double spike even in a 3" pot. Bright, well spaced flowers.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 18” to 22”

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: medium filtered (50%)

WATER: once per week during moderate temperatures. well drained. 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in fine bark media mix with high moisture retention.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:   Stem emerging from the pseudobulb carries a tall spray of redish/ white specks flowers with a pale pink petal end.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: Flat/round pseudobulb with leaves emerging from the bottom in fan array in two sides. Single leaf  with center fold emerging at top of pseudobulb. Fine roots.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Obtained in 4” plastic pot with S. moss, plant exceeding pot size and very top heavy. In bloom with two full bloom spikes. 
Re-pot in 5” aircone plastic pot with Orchiata mix. Water once per week, high afternoon/west light.
-January 2014: (1) medium size ceramic, round  / dark blue / hanging
-Jan. 2015:(1) Medium blue ceramic, doing well.
-Jan. 2016: moved to (1) 3.5” aircone, this type does better in small plastic container. Recovering slowlyt, do not overwater until it shows new roots.
Feb. 2017: Plant not found it most have perish.
