PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, medium. Most light tolerant of the species

WATER: let dry between water, well drained. 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in coarse chunks of fir or 
redwood bark and/or hardwood charcoal
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:   Purple grape color, flowers are 3" wide and have a sweet, smoky scent.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: Tall plant, abundant flowers.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

2/2013 plant arrived in 2.5” plastic pot with bark media.

-3/2013 plant arrived 4” plastic pot with bark media.
-January 2014: (1) 4.5” aircone pot, (1) 3” aircone pot. Total of (2) plants.
July 2014: two plants in one pot, one stem per plant, 5 & 7 flowers on each stem.
-Jan. 2015:(1)4” wooden basket, (1)4” aircone pot.
-Jan. 2016: both doing well.
Feb. 2017: (1)WB 4”, (1) AC 4”, both doing well.
-April 2023: (#1 & #2) plants extremely overgrown over the Aircore pot and infested with Boisduval Scale. Treated eventually with Orthene (3x/for 3 weeks.) It worked.
#1 divided and eventually repotted some together.
#2 moved into 5” AC/bark.  
-June, 2023: (#807-1) divided into 2 pieces, both into 8”/short clay with beads.
(#807-2) mounted @ JCT above highest branch croach.
-Nov. 3, 2023: (#1- 2 div.tiny bulbs) mounted @ JCT above Onc. #816 
Feb. 7, 2024: Large pot with (#1 & #3) divisiones, I did not like it been so large. Changed esach division to individual 5”/short clay pots with LECA.
