HEIGHT X SPREAD: medium PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen GROWTH RATE: Moderate TEXTURE: bold LIGHT: filtered light, medium. Most light tolerant of the species WATER: let dry between water, well drained. high humidity 60-70 % SOIL: Pot in coarse chunks of bark and well drain pot, or basket. May be mounted.
As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS: green-lime background splash with red-maroon color and a white/magenta center. Spectacular. a pair of blooms in one stem. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES: A stunning combination of bright colors.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Arrived in 2.5” plastic pot with bark mix. -Second plant 4” plastic pot with bark media. -January 2014: (1)4” plastic pot. Only (1) plant found. -June 24, 2014: Found second plant, 4” airpot and 8” woodbasket. Two blooms forming on both plants. -July 7th, 2014. First bloom open. Both plants have two blooms each. -Jan. 2015: (1)4” aircone pot, (1) 8” wooden basket, both doing well. Jan. 2016: (1)8” woodbasket, (1) 4” aircone pot. Jan. 2017: (1) mounted on grapevine, (1) clay 3”R, (1) WB 8” Nov. 2017:(#806-1) 8” WB, (#806-2) mounted on grapevine, both clay & vine DEAD August 2023: (#806-1) 8” WB, severly infested with boisduval scale. Saved one small division in 2” AC pot with S. moss. Discarded the rest of plant. Sept 2023: 3 rounds of spray/dunk of Orthene by end of month. Nov. 2023: Plant into 3” clay pot with ceramics, clean and with roots. Dec. 2023: mounted on GV/ Sect. B/ first plant after 2d. hook.
