Orchid- Dendrobium Burana Jade “Sunglow”

As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:yellow/pale green with a pale pink throat.No photos found, will have to wait until it flowers.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES:Sturdy  multiple stems with alternating semi-soft leaves. Taller than wide, top heavy, likes potted in a small container.

Plant received bare-root. Placed in 2.5” plastic pot with sm. Orchiata mix.
-Mounted inside 8”x8” shallow wood basket, Rt. side on (2-3X,3-4Y), (Jan. 5, 2013).
Jan. 22, 2013 removed from trellis, not well mounted. Placed in small pot with orchiata until it develops enough ariel roots.Transfered to 4” wooden basket.
Plant has two off shoot plants growing out of one stem and two blooms.
-June 9, 2013 flowers open. Off shoots growing roots, will pot separately after blooms fade and enough aerial roots develop.
-I nearly killed this plant by improperly mounted.
-Januray 2014:(1)4” clay, (1)2” plastic pot. Total of (2) plants
-Jan. 2015:(1) 4” wood basket. Only (1) plant, seedling died.
-Jan. 2016: (1) 4” woodbasket. Feb. 2017/ Dead.
-July. 2016: (1) 4” clay. Blooming May 8, 2017
-July 2017: moved to (1) 4” WBk.
-Feb. 2020: Dead, overwater or high humidity during winter

LIGHT: lots of light but filtered.

WATER: let dry between water, treat similar to phalaenopsis
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: like small pot relative to plant size. Top heavy. Large pot will slow growth.Well drain media or no media. Suitable for mounting.
