Blc. = Brassolaeliocattleya sometimes refer also as Rhyncholaeliocattleya. Hybrid.

This type of hybrid will most likely adapt to the same care of Cattleyas.

As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:Large 6 inch plus crimson mahogany flowers. Usually blooms with 3 flowers, but large mature plants can produce 5-6 flowers on a strong stem. Mother plant of Carmela Orchids has twice won Best in Show honors at the Hilo Orchid Show. Very fragrant.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

KEY FEATURES:single leaf in long pseudobulbs.

Plant received in 2 1/2” plastic pot with bark.
-Mounted wood trellis A, (1X,4Y) to the right (Dec. 31, 2012)
-3/25/13 removed from mount and placed in 2.5” plastic pot with Orchiata
-January 2014: (1)4” clay pot.
-Jan. 2015: (1) clay pot, doing well. 
-Jan. 2016: (1) 4” clay doing well.
-Feb. 2017: (1) WB 6”
-July 2017: second plant (#779-2) mounted on Cork Tower/ section 3
-Total of 2 locations for this variety.
-Oct. 2018: (#779-1) 6” WB plant bloomed first time.
April 2023:(#779-1) 6” WB discarded due to Boisduval scale infested.
