A 60th birthday present from my friend Paula Beattie. For now I will enjoy watching the spike grow and the bloom surprise thru the Holiday season.

As with my previous amaryllis, this one will be planted in Bed #11 come spring.

Paula’s other wonderful presents brighten my garden every spring.


Note: Amaryllis = Hippeastrum

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 45 cm.

PLANT TYPE: Bulb

GROWTH RATE: Moderate

TEXTURE:bold

LIGHT: filtered light to full sun outdoors

WATER: medium, well drain

SOIL: high Organic
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: 50 cm tall the blooms. Two thick stems each with 3 giant flowers per stem. Each flower a 10”diameter Scarlet-red double petals bloom, delicate texture and ruffled look.
A splash of white in the petals’ center ribs.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A

KEY FEATURES: *Grown indoors for Holidays, they also make a fine addition to the garden outdoors returning blooms every year
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

    This bulb, 32/34 cm size promise to grow a height of 50 cm. with a dark red bloom in about 6-8 weeks;
-Blooms open in 4-5 weeks.
- March 10, 2022: Paula continues to add to my collection of Amaryllis, now all transplanted from Oriental to Stonehenge (i.e. Chapel Hill/ The Woodlands)
