HEIGHT X SPREAD: tall PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen GROWTH RATE: Moderate TEXTURE: bold LIGHT:moderate filtered light, only. WATER: Frequent during summer, reduce water during winter months to about every two weeks. high humidity 60-70 % SOIL:Fine bark or Sphagnum moss. Can be mounted.
As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS: Winter/Spring bloomer. A unique African rainforest orchid that gets clusters of miniature orange flowers emerging in a stalk form at top center of plant. November FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES:a strong tall thick stem with alternating elongated leaves
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Plant received in 3.5” plastic pot with bark mixture.(Oct. 12) -Bloom fully open Nov 25, 2012 . Needs a larger/heavier container once the bloom fades. Tall plant that easily tips over with the bloom weight/ height. Second plant received bare root, Dec 15, 12. Potted in 4” plastic with small orchiata mix. Third plant Feb. 2013. All 3 plants placed in 6” cedar basket with Orchiata mix. January 2014: (1)3” aircone pot. Plant had new growing shoot during the heat of the summer, my absence made it dry out. Old stem still has green/life. I hope it comes back, waiting. Total(1 stem) severly damaged July 2015: (2) plants in 3” plastic with small Orchiata Jan. 2016: (2) 3” pk. pots doing well. Let dry before water again. March 2017: One of the two plants bloomed. March 2018:( #768-1) 3” clay pot with small orchiata & Treefern bark. (#768-2) 4” Treefern pot with TF bark. April 12, 2018:(#768-1 moved also to TF 4” pot. With spike. Dead 2019 May 2020: (#2) Dead. I do not understand what this plant needs! (Total of 0 plant)
