Doritaenopsis (Dtps.) are hybrids that exhibit all the desire trades of popular orchids, special durability of their blooms and  many color combinations.

A compact plant with mltile small blooms.


Hybrid: 7617 Dtps. Little Gem Stripes 'MSWR' x self

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 6 inches x 6 inches 
PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, only.

WATER: moist but well  drained, 
high humidity 60-70 %
SOIL: Pot in Orchid mix using plastic or ceramic pots. Clay pots retains to much salt and may dry too fast
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: 2” multi-floral white with red-lavender lip. Variations between seedlings show, some completely white petals, some with pink/ salmon hues. Lateral septals with fushia spots towards center.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: solid green color leaves.
NOTE: this plant rots easier than other Dtps. I cultivate.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

25 plugs, about 4” leaf length plants, received bare root.
-Potted in 3.25x4” square clear plastic pot with Classic Orchiata & sponge rock (4:1 ratio)
-7 of the smallest plants mounted in wood frame with Orchiata core and sphagnum moss layer in both sides.(9/18/12)
-January 2014: (11) 4” plastic pot,(1)severely damaged in 3” pot, (1) 2” plastic pot. A  total of 12 plants.
Jan. 2015: 3 ceramic pots multi-plants. Total of (13) plants.
-Jan. 2016: 3 ceramic pots multiplants, + (3) sm. aircone pots.
-Feb. 2017:(1/3) ceramic/white/med. Only 1 container found?, mis-recorded previous?. A total of 3 plants in one pot.
-June 2021: one plant died in combo. Total of 2 plants remain in 1 pot.
