Genus comprises about 60 species in the Asia tropics from southern India to New Guinea and the Philippines. They are known as “Lady’s slippers” because of their pouch like lips.  All Paphiopedilum have flowers of a similar plan. Lacking pseudobulbs, they prefer a moisture-retaining epiphytic compost and medium light levels.

As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS:Deep bright rose color throughout. Vein like pattern on dorsal and petals, this flower is mostly uniform in color. Large dorsal, small/narrow lateral petals. Short stem. Late summer. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES: Hybrid, a cross between: Mottled leaves.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Plant received in 4” inch square pot. Keep in shade and moist at all times. Use weak strength fertilizer, less than other orchid varieties. -Flower fully open 8/26/2012 -January 2014:(1) 4” plastic pot -Jan. 2015: Placed water plate during summer heat , all L.slippers liked it. Doing well.
