Genus comprises about 60 species in the Asia tropics from southern India to New Guinea and the Philippines. They are known as “Lady’s slippers” because of their pouch like lips.  All Paphiopedilum have flowers of a similar plan. Lacking pseudobulbs, they prefer a moisture-retaining epiphytic compost and medium light levels.

Petals may be round or linear, curved or undulate. Mid winter to early spring. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES: Hybrid, a cross between: Mottled leaves.
