Genus comprises about 60 species in the Asia tropics from southern India to New Guinea and the Philippines. They are known as “Lady’s slippers” because of their pouch like lips.  All Paphiopedilum have flowers of a similar plan. Lacking pseudobulbs, they prefer a moisture-retaining epiphytic compost and medium light levels.

As observed in Coastal NC. BLOOMS:Maroon pouch/lip with green hues. The dorsal septal, curving inward is mainly white with green and maroon lines. Petals are rosy red with green lines, no spots. Flower lasts about 6 weeks. FRUIT AND SEED: N/A, propagate by division. KEY FEATURES: Hybrid, a cross between: Mottled leaves.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch Plant received in 4” inch square pot. Keep in shade and moist at all times. Use weak strength fertilizer, less than other orchid varieties. -Flower: open 8/26/12, dropped 10/09/12. It could have dry from lack of water.
