I do not know the actual cultivar of this lovely bromeliad, a present from son and daughter on mother’s day I will call it by their names: Gabe & Brett


Plant came among a purple phalaenopsis, the yellow color bloom a great complement to the arrangement.

That phalaenopsis I too, call it: G & B.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: medium 

PLANT TYPE: Tropical bromeliad

GROWTH RATE: Moderate

TEXTURE: medium to fine
LIGHT: filtered light, medium to low

WATER: dry between waterings.
SOIL: Pot in Orchid bark  with some fast drain soil such as cactus mix.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:  center  yellow rossette with green tip at the bottom leaves and a white center

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES: long thin and soft /thin lime green leaves that flow on a delicate drop about 12” long.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Received as a lovely arrangement 6” pot in sphagnum moss with a Phalaenopsis purple orchid in bloom.  Keep inside home until blooms fade.
Potted in orchiata and moved to glasshouse in shaded area. Jan. 2013 doing well with two small shoots/plants growing.
