Species occur from Costa Rica to northern Colombia. Characterized by the presence of cylindrical. Pseudobulbs of several nodes with apical, thick leaves, racemose inflorescence with a sheath at the base.

Epiphytic plants usually of wet forest at elevations from sea level to 1,500 meters. Top of trees in moist to wet forest.

BLOOMS: erect with 5 to 7 flowers of more than 15 cm diameter. Dark yellow septals with rich yellow petals usually with red venation and flush.Lip velvety red-purple with golden veins radiation from the base and 3 golden yellow streaks down the center. Fragrant. Summer

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

Plant received in 2” pot. Re-potted in a 4” clay pot with Orchid bark mix.
Keep in high light and moist, dry between waterings.

Jan. 8, 2014: (1) 4” clay pot. Slow growing progress do to multile changes in growing media. I finally will let it be in clay with Orchiata, water once/wk.
It likes that.
-Jan. 2015: (1) 2” plastic pot inside 4” clay pot.
