This species occurs from Costa Rica to Colombia. A epiphyte in very wet forest at elevations from 100 to 1,000 meters.

Cultivations should be under intermediate conditions and with abundant applications of water throughout the year.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

KEY FEATURES: genius  lacks pseudobulbs, the foliaceous, distichous sheaths forming a fanlike plant; leaves narrow and lightly veined; the one flowered inflorescences from the axils of the leaf sheaths.

plant received in 2” pot. Re-potted in 4” plastic pot with bark mix.
Keep in medium light and moist at all times year round.
Jan. 8, 2014: (1) 2” aircone pot. Plant has suffered and lost most of the leaves. I still do not know exactly the conditions it likes but keep trying to find out. Too much water or too little??
