From the deserts of South Africa. Each “toe” has a translucent window where sunlight is filtered  to  enable photosynthesis. Will not tolerate water-logged soils.


Provide bright light. Hardy to 32F degrees.


Water thoroughly when soil is dry.

GROWTH RATE: slow

TEXTURE: Semi- soft

LIGHT: Bright light

WATER: water when soil is dry. To much water in summer make the plants “tubular leaves” split.Water more when new growth appears.
SOIL: well drain soil/ gravel & sand mixture.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: pale yellow/ near white. Late winter, early summer.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.


KEY FEATURES:

About 2” tall pant in a 2” pot with very dry soil.
Transfer plant to 4” clay pot with ability to hang pot.
First flower Oct. 26, 2012. It lasted few days. Plant has started new growth since temperatures have dropped below 70’s.
