Unidentify plant I will have to wait until it flowers.

After been mounted in wood trellis, changed to a wood basket and waiting for almost 4 yrs. this orchid has flower with a double bloom spike.


*With help of friends at ‘The Orchid Board’ I believe it is:

Blc. Acapana ‘Miles’

HEIGHT X SPREAD:  Medium

PLANT TYPE: Orchid -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: filtered light, only.

WATER: moist well, drained, 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in coarse chunks of fir or 
redwood bark and/or hardwood charcoal or mounted in wood
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS:  Yellow/green with pink ruffled edges and lip.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch
Happy has been adding orchids to my collection from her’s sister’s collection in Georgia. Once her plant finish flowering, the plant comes into my care. I have manage to make them bloom again. I’m learning.

-Plant came potted in 6” clay pot with bark/mix, just after blooms drop.
-Mounted directly  on wooden trellis C.
-Jan. 2014: (1) 5” aircone pot, (1) 4” Aircone pot. Two plants total.
-March 2014: 4” pot plant perish.
-April 2014: moved  to 6” wooden basket.
-Jan. 2015: (1) 6” wooden basket, doing well.
-Dec. 16, 2015 first blooms open.
Feb. 2017: (1) WB 6”
-Dec. 2021: Discarded plant due to infestation.
