Because of it’s bright colors, poinsettias are one of the most popular plants during the Christmas season. Poinsettia's main attraction is not its flowers, but its leaves. The flowers of the plant are the yellow clustered buds in the center. The colored leafy parts are actually bracts or modified leaves. The cultivar exhibits red/ creamy specks and occasional patches of green on it’s bracts.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 12 inches x 20 inches

PLANT TYPE: Shrub -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: full sun to part shade

WATER: medium to dry

SOIL: Pot in loose porous soil. Good drainage.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: bracts of red with creamy specks and occasional patches of green. Flower is small yellow at the center of bracts.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: by cuttings, If done during mid august, plant could be flowering by december.

KEY FEATURES: dark green with a soft touch. Leaves are tender and damage easily. The have a white sap when removed or broken.

Plant in 4” pot blooming. Early spring, re-potted in 10” clay pot in preparation for next december. Place outdoor once danger of frost is gone.
