Vanda plants are generally large monopodial, usually with stout short leafy stems. The leaves characteristically have erose, unevenly cut tips.

Native to the Philippines, known as “The Luzon” (Island in Phil.) The large white flowers have a few purple spots and a diffuse rose border. The petals are strongly clawed. It is one of the largest species of the genus.

LIGHT: filtered light, bright.

WATER: moist well, drained, daily
high humidity 60-70 %, lots of air circulation.

SOIL: Pot in coarse chunks of fir or 
redwood bark and/or hardwood charcoal 
Most commonly grown in baskets.
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: Large white with purple spots & rose lip. Spring bloomer

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

Five plants received in 2” plastic pots with coconut fiber threads only.
-Mounted plants on wood trellis A, cover with only the coconut fibers.
-They may need more water than I have provided, will observe roots.
-3/25/13 removed from mount and placed in 4”” plastic basket with coconut fiber and large Orchiata mix.
-Jan. 2014: 5 plants growing slow but well in individual baskets, (3) 4” wood basket, (2) 4” plastic basket. Water daily except when rainy and cloudy.
-Jan: 2016: (1) (2” aircone with moss) tiny plant developing roots.
-Feb. 2017: (1) 4” wood basket, still tiny but alive.
