Tillandsias are bromeliads. They absorb water and nutrients thru the leaves not roots, and require no planting medium.

Each plant only flowers once. After blooming the plants reproduce 1-8 offspring from the side of the mother.


They can tolerate a large range of temperatures and withstand long periods without water.

Hang them anywhere away from direct sun light.

BLOOMS: Red bloom takes several weeks to develop, exhibiting a long colorful stem with weaving pattern. Colorful spikes last at least 6 months.

FRUIT  AND  SEED:  propagate by separating clumps/ offsprings

KEY FEATURES:  Each plant only flowers once and then goes to produce offsprings. If clump desire, do not separate new plants.

These plants are commonly found in conservatories I have visited. Grown in combination with orchids.

Plants hang from a attached wire. I move them around until I find the right spot that delivers the correct amount of water and air circulation for the plant or clump.
03/2/12 - Two red bloom spikes have slowly emerge and keep growing for 2 months now (2 inches long)
August 2012, flower spikes finally faded lasting at least 7 months
March 2014: 5 individual plants purchased. Glue them to wooden trellis
