Tropical placed in a large planter to create a tropical forest feel, provide shade and color to complement the new orchids that are now hanging in the glasshouse.


HEIGHT X SPREAD: 20 inches x 20 inches

PLANT TYPE: Tropical -Evergreen
GROWTH RATE: Moderate
TEXTURE: bold
LIGHT: shade

WATER: moist well, drained, 
high humidity 

SOIL: porous, organic, well drain. Do not like to be root bound
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: The flowers are dark brown or a dark maroon color with long whisker-like filaments resembling a flying bat or cat with long whiskers.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A, propagate by  division.

A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

Plant is growing fast and well. After a few weeks it develop flowers, unfortunately I took no photos of them.

-Plant perish during hurricane flood august 2011.
Plant appeared relatively easy to grow, I will consider it again in a none flood Zone.
-March 3, 2017: (1) new rhizomes potted along with (2) white in a 12” clay pot
with a mixture of (Coir, prof. soil, perlite and small fir bark), few large Orchiata chunks at bottom of pot.
