Orchid - #619 *

Orchid - removed from log - #3

     ID#619

This plant came without identification. A year has past and the plant has survived my erratic care.

Removed 4 plants from a log and potted in clay and bark. Later mounted in a tight sphagnum moss ball attached to  wood trellis.

Spring 2012  I remove the moss and place directly on wood trellis....

A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch
This plant, along with 24 others where given to me by my neighbor, the previous owners “The Cochran’s” which I never met moved out of town and no longer could care for them. About half of the Collection still had plant name/description and sometimes nursery of origin. Very helpful information to guide me into their care.
So my education begins.....

-Plant grew well mounted with moss ball, however, roots started to rot so the moss was removed and mounted directly on trellis. Almost all leaves have drop. It lacks healthy roots, added some loose moss around and hope it survives. Tempted to place in a pot?
-I acquire a new plant, #716 Dendrobium kingianum. It looks exactly like this unidentify plant. If both flower, I will know for sure.
Mounted on 4”x6” tree fern board backed with cedar plank, a thin cover of S. moss on top. (Jan.5,2013)
Jan. 2014:(1) Fern board mount doing well. Only water once/wk.
Jan. 2015: dead. Most likely insufficient water in summer heat.
