Hedychium coronarium is a robust, attractive plant that will reach 6 feet in containers.


It is a vigorous grower and needs to be divided often. White Ginger is native to tropical Asia.


I  plan to keep this plant in the greenhouse year around.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 4 - 6 ft.

PLANT TYPE: Tender perennial

GROWTH RATE: Fast

TEXTURE: bold

LIGHT: full sun to  partial shade

WATER: moist, even wet is OK 

SOIL: high organic
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: white/ near white. Mid- summer, late summer, early fall.  Extremely fragrant and make good cut flowers.

FRUIT  AND  SEED: seeds, remove fleshy coating and sow as soon as possible, they do not save well. Propagate by division in late winter- early spring.

KEY FEATURES:
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

    Potted  in Metromix and moss.  About a 1” cube root had already a shoot coming up with one leaf. Place in Glasshouse.
Plant perish under hurricane flood August 2011.
