Most people are introduced to orchids through phalaenopsis orchids.

There are about 60 true species of phalaenopsis; they are native to tropical Asian countries including the Philippines, Borneo, Java and elsewhere. These plants have been extensively hybridized, and there are thousands of phalaenopsis hybrids. This one is a miniature.

LIGHT: filtered light, only.

WATER: moist well, drained, 
high humidity 60-70 %

SOIL: Pot in coarse chunks of fir or 
redwood bark and/or hardwood charcoal  or moss
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: Yellow with fuschia pattern on petales and fuschia lip. 1.5 - 2 “ diameter. Fragrant ! June-July

FRUIT  AND  SEED: when the spike has finished flowering, do not cut it off the plant as kiekies quite often develop on the ends of the spikes.

KEY FEATURES: Small plant with long oval thick  leaves that do not tolerate any direct sun light. Forms a clump with many central  branches.

    Potted  separately in 2 pots.
-Place in Glasshouse Oct. 2011. 
-Does NOT tolerate any direct sun.
Plants mounted on trellis C & D are doing well. Keep Moist.
-Plant on trellis D flowering June 28, 2012
-Jan. 2014. (1) plant in Med. brown ceramic planter and (1) seedling 2” pot.
-Jan. 2015: (1) Med. brown ceramic pot, doing well. Seedling perished.
Jan. 2016: (1)Medium brown ceramic doing very well, plant branching to cover pot area. Spike growing.
Jan. 2019: Plant has fully covers the pot top and displays multiple spikes during April.
