    I know close to nothing about Orchids. This one was passed on to me by a friend. It had white flowers at the end of  november.


    There are thousands varieties of Orchids. Their tolerances, preferences, etc. cover a wide range.

I will learn as I attempt to keep this one alive and hopefully propagate.

The Botanical name I’m uncertain.

HEIGHT X SPREAD: 2 ft x 2 ft

PLANT TYPE: Evergreen tropical

GROWTH RATE: Moderate

TEXTURE: bold

LIGHT: filtered light

WATER: Humid air, well drain
SOIL: high Organic, coarse bark, charcoal, mounted
As observed in Coastal NC.

BLOOMS: white flower, first flowers appear mid may. Spring. Buds in new growth only.


FRUIT  AND  SEED: N/A


KEY FEATURES: so far, tolerates temperatures down to 45 F .Potted in charcoal doing well. In trellis also well. Easy grower.
A year cycle in the life of ...... at Mooring Hitch

01/21/11  Split the original plant into 3 pieces. Re-pot the larger piece into original pot and soil.
Potted second piece into 6” orchid pots (side holes) using fine size horticultural charcoal with a scant amount of Mertomix  and third piece into 8” orchid pot using Orchid Bark (fir bark).
05/2011 Ceramic pot plant has two flowers in one stem.
Two plants, one in pot another one in trellis both with buds ready to open soon. (03/22/12). Two blooms in the 6” pot.
Re-potted in 6” plastic with orchid bark mix. Took a cutting and mount on Wood Trellis D. 
Now I have 3 plants.
Jan. 2014, counted 2 plants: 4” pot  & 5” aircone pot.
August 30, 2014: combined both plants into (1) 9” wooden basket.
Jan. 2015: (1) 9” wooden basket, doing well.
Jan. 2019: (1) 9” Wood basket is totally full expanding to the sides, plant blooms for about 2 months from April to August, taking a rest during the hottest weeks. running old dry canes has encourage new growth in the center crown.
Nov. 11, 2023: This plant has done well, but now exceeds the 9” WBk. May 2023 basket dismantel, divided and all viable pieces mounted on a Large Cork Tube like piece = CLong Leg =CLL 
One tiny piece mounted on WT/ corked -about 6 ft. up. Both doing well.
